African Students Innovation Challenge
The Inter-School STEM Innovations Challenge is a groundbreaking initiative aimed at nurturing creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills among secondary school students through Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). This challenge is designed to foster real-world innovation by providing young learners with a platform to conceptualize, develop, and pitch solutions addressing pressing societal issues.
Aligned with Sustainable Development Goal 4 (Quality Education) and national education priorities, the challenge promotes experiential learning, cross-school collaboration, and career exposure in STEM fields, empowering the next generation of problem-solvers and innovators.
Challenge Objectives
- Inspire practical application of STEM skills to solve real-world challenges.
- Encourage teamwork, leadership, and innovation among students.
- Expose students to digital tools, design thinking, and entrepreneurship concepts.
- Strengthen partnerships between schools, industries, and educational stakeholders.
- Promote career readiness in STEM fields among secondary school learners.
Competition Categories
- Health & Well-being Innovations
Solutions addressing health, hygiene, nutrition, or mental health challenges. - Environmental Sustainability Solutions
Projects focused on recycling, renewable energy, conservation, or pollution control. - Technology & Digital Solutions
Innovations leveraging ICT, coding, robotics, AI, or software development. - Agriculture & Food Security
STEM applications improving farming, irrigation, food production, or processing. - Education & Learning Tools
Innovative educational resources or platforms that enhance learning access and quality.
Eligibility Criteria
- Any school that wishes to participate in the African Students Innovation Challenge must first register for the School Summit Africa 📌 Register for the Summit Here:
👉 Click to Register - Open to secondary school students (Junior and Senior levels).
- Participants must be enrolled in registered public or private schools.
- Schools can submit up to two teams (3–5 students per team).
- Teams must be supervised by a teacher or school staff mentor.
- Submissions must focus on STEM-based, student-developed innovations.
- Projects can be at idea, prototype, or final product stage.
